Prima Vera Road Bike Tour

Day 1 – Karoo 1 to Montagu – Total km:80.9
Early morning departure from the city and we shuttle to Karoo 1, where we
begin our cycle through the stunning Koo Valley, heading towards Montagu.
We climb steadily for the first 30kms, where we encounter our first long,
sweeping 10km downhill, then we climb gently again for another 10, before
cruising down & flat into Montagu. Lunch awaits at the Montagu Country
Hotel and we overnight & dine at Mimosa Lodge
Day 2 – Montague to Heidelberg – Total km:109
It’s a long, gentle, uphill drag, going backwards on the DC route along Op Die
Tradouw Pass until just before Barrydale, where we turn off onto Tradouw’s Pass
and head downhill all the way to the T-Junction, where we’d normally go right
towards Suurbraak. Instead, we go left and head to Heidelberg. There’s a short
stretch of dirt here, so those on gravel bikes can keep going, but others will load up
briefly before joining the tar again into Heidelberg. Here we are fed & watered while
the bikes load up and after lunch we’ll shuttle 1⁄2 hr to Riversdale, where we
overnight at De Doornkraal Historical Country House.
Day 3 – Riversdale to Ronnie’s – Total km: 104
We cycle out of town up Garcia’s Pass and follow the R232 for 68kms, until we reach
the R62. Here we take a left and cointinue on rollers as far as the infamous Ronnie’s
Sex Shop, where we load up & shuttle a short stretch to Barrydale. We spend the
night at the newly revamped Karoo Art Hotel.
Day 4 – Barrydale to Van Loveren – Total km: 108
We get to ride a 2nd time down Tradouw’s , this time turning right at the T-
Junction and heading via Swellendam & Bonnievale to Van Loveren Wine Estate,
where we end off lunch & a swim in the dam, before shuttling back to Cape Town.
COSTS:
R17,500.00p.p. sharing
Single supplement: + R2,500.00
INCLUDES:
– accommodation for 3 nights, as above
– all meals from lunch on Day 1 to lunch on Day 4
– all transport en route, as required
– vehicle back-up on all riding days.
– transfer of bicycles & luggage, as required
– drinks & snacks en route daily
– cycle guide plus driver/guide
EXCLUDES:
– all items of a personal nature, e.g. tel calls, laundry, etc
– all drinks not dispensed at the roadside, including soft drinks, bottled water, fancy coffees & all alcoholic beverages
– bicycle rental (bring your own bike)
– airfares
– gratuities ( except for meals)
– any optional entrances, tastings, excursions
– anything not mentioned above
TERMS & CONDITIONS:
1) DEPOSIT
20% deposit is required to confirm the booking. No bookings will be made or dates secured until this deposit has been paid
2) BALANCE OF PAYMENT
Balance of payment is required no later than 12 weeks (84 days) prior to departure, i.e. BY MON 12 AUGUST.
3) CANCELLATION
If the cancellation is received up to 84 days prior to departure, the appropriate deposit will be forfeited. In the event of cancellation less than 84 days prior to departure, the following charges will apply:
83 – 55 days – 60% of total fare
54 – 28 days – 70% of total fare
27 – 14 days – 85 % of total fare
Less than 14 days – 100 % of total fare
There are no discounts for leaving early or joining late.
