Prima Vera Road Bike Tour

08-12 October 2026

DAY 1 – TRANSFER TO WELLINGTON

Afternoon meet-up & transfer to the newly updated Val Du Charron in Wellington, where we prep for the 4 days of riding ahead. www.vdcwines.co.za

DAY 2- WELLINGTON TO TULBAGH

We head out from VDC to the base of Baine’s Kloof Pass. This is an absolute classic and now made even more iconic by the plush new-ish surface, which feels like riding on satin – a far cry from the previous bumpy surface! Once down the other side, we make for Tulbagh, via Wolseley and it’s plain sailing all the way to lunch. We settle into and spend the next 2 nights at the Tulbagh Boutique Hotel www.tulbaghhotel.co.za

DAY 3 – TULBAGH TO TULBAGH

We cycle back towards Wolseley, but branch off beforehand and head up Mitchell’s Pass to Ceres, then on through Prince Alfred’s Hamlet and up The Mother of the day, in the form of Guido Pass. At the top, we turn around and cruise back – a long reward for the challenging first 50kms.

DAY 4 – TULBAGH TO NUY

Heading back through Wolesley, this time we branch off to the spectacular Slanghoek Valley, riding amidst vineyards, ringed all around by majestic mountains. Alongside Rotary Drive, Chapman’s Peak & Baine’s Kloof, it ranks up there with the best of the road rides in The Cape. We spend the night at Leipzig Country House, with dinner in the old cellar.

DAY 5 – LEIPZIG TO WELLINGTON

Such is the iconic status of Slanghoek and Baine’s Kloof, that they both warrant riding both ways. Enough said. When we reach the bottom of Baine’s at 93 kms, it’s an easy cruise down to lunch back @ Val Du Charron, where we enjoy stunning views across the vineyards from the terrace of Pizza Vista
